Antonio de la Rúa

Antonio de la Rúa (born c. 1973) is the first son of the Argentine former President Fernando de la Rúa who occupied the presidency of Argentina from 1999 to 2001. Antonio de la Rúa, who is an architect, proved to be a scandalous first son, a bachelor who has been papparatzi fodder since his father arrived at the Pink House, as the presidential home in Argentina is known. Soon after his father became president, he was voted Argentina's most wanted bachelor by some gossip magazines. Nonetheless, he was pictured with several female friends, and rumored to romance most of them. In 2000, he started dating singer Shakira, in a romance that made headline news all over Latin America. He and Shakira have been seen together at many important events, including visiting with Dominican Republic president Hipólito Mejía. In March of 2001, he proposed to her. De la Rúa and Shakira continue dating, with future plans to marry.
