Arkansas Traveller

The Arkansas Traveller(1858) is a famous American painting by Edward Payson Washburn depicting an encounter between a wealthy traveller and a family of squatters. The painting was later immortalized as a Currier & Ives lithograph. Inspiration for the painting's subject came from the humorous song of the same name by Colonel Sanford 'Sandy' Faulkner. Note: There is a similarly named Arkansas Traveler line of boats.

"There is only one nature - the division into science and engineering is a human imposition, not a natural one. Indeed, the division is a human failure; it reflects our limited capacity to comprehend the whole." - Bill Wulf
