Aspleniaceae
The family Aspleniaceae is the only family in the order Aspleniales. This group of ferns is called spleenworts. Many workers today consider this family of solely consisting of the genus Asplenium. Others still maintain segregate genera such as Camptosorus, Phyllitis, and Ceterach. Only the last one is being retained here. Camptosorus, the walking fern, freely hybridizes with other spleenworts, and Phyllitis, the hart's-tongue fern, also has several known hybrids. |
