AureolusAureolus (died 268) was a Roman cavalry commander under the emperor Gallienus. After putting down several uprisings he fell out with Gallienus and was besieged in Milan in 268. After Gallienus' death, Aureolus proclaimed himself Roman emperor but then surrendered to Claudius Gothicus. He was killed by the Praetorian Guard. Category:Ancient Romans\n |
