Governor of Northern Ireland

The Governor of Northern Ireland was the Crown representative in Northern Ireland. The office existed from 1922 until 1973 when Westminster took direct control of Northern Ireland because of the Troubles.

  • 1922 - 1945 James Hamilton, 3rd Duke of Abercorn
  • 1945 - 1952 William Spencer Leveson-Gower, 4th Earl Granville
  • 1952 - 1964 Lord Wakehurst
  • 1964 - 1967 Lord Erskine of Rerrick
  • 1967 - 1973 Baron Grey of Naunton
