Kardecist SpiritismKardecist Spiritism or Kardecism is a spiritualistic religion created in the 19th century by Allan Kardec. Its largest body of believers is by far that of Brazil, where it is one of the main established religions and called just "Spiritism" (Espiritismo in Portuguese). Kardecism claims to be scientific, although many scientists dismiss the performances of its mediumss and spiritual healerss as based on self-deception or charlatanism. Kardecism also considers itself a form of Christianism, although it has rather noticeable doctrinary differences with most Christian denominations and cannot be considered a sect of Catholicism, Protestantism or Orthodox Christianity.Beliefs\nReincarnation is a central tenet of Kardecism, and plays a central role at its ceremonies — where the spiritss of deceased persons are invoked, manifest themselves in various ways, and may be incorporated or channeled by mediums. Some Kardecist authors such as Chico Xavier claim to be merely mediums for spirits, who actually "psychographed" their books. Many Brazilian faith healers, like the psychic surgeon José Arigó, are Kardecist, and make similar claims about their performances.External links\n* International Spiritist Council\n* Spiritism Online \n* http://www.febnet.org.br (Brazil)\n* http://www.spiritism.ca (Canada)\n* http://www.allankardec.ca (Canada) \n\n Category:New religious movements\nCategory:Religions of Brazil |
