The company ownes 31 daily newspapers throughout the United States, and is the second largest newspaper publisher in the nation. The company is headquarted in San José, California. Knight Ridder publishes the San Jose Mercury News, one of the first newspapers to offer extended content to its print publication with a subscription website. The San Jose Mercury News offices are the home of Knight Ridder's headquarters.
