Lévis, QuebecLévis (officially Ville de Lévis) is a Canadian city in eastern Quebec south of the capital, Quebec City on the St. Lawrence River. The population in the 2001 census was 40,926. However, after the "megacity" municipal mergers across Quebec in 2002, the new city of Lévis became much larger, encompassing much of the southern shore across the St. Lawrence River from Quebec City. Levis is the home of the Mouvement Desjardins (Dejardins Movement in English) which is the largest association of credit unions in North America. It is also a major center of agricultural businesses and of institutions and corporations involved in research and development in agricultural science. \nCategory:Quebec communities |
