Marriageable age
This is a very incomplete list of ages at which people are allowed to
marry in various countries.
- Australia: 18 generally, 16 under special circumstances with court approval.\n* Canada: 18 generally, 16 with parental consent, 14 with judicial consent.\n* China (PRC): 22 for males, 20 for females.\n* France: 18 generally, 15 for females with parental consent.\n* Germany: 18 generally, 16 with court consent (partner must be 18+.)\n* Hungary: 18, 16 with parental consent\n* Iran: 15 for males, 13 for females (9 for females before 2002).\n* Israel: 17 for females.\n* Republic of Ireland: 18.\n* Italy: 18 generally, 16 with permission from the tribunale dei minori.\n* Japan: 18 for males, 16 for females.\n* Netherlands: 18 generally, 16 if the female is pregnant or with child.\n* New Zealand: 20 generally, 16 with previous marriage or with parental consent.\n* Philippines: 20 for males, 18 for females, 16 for males and 14 for females with parental consent.\n* Senegal: 20 for males, 16 for females.\n* United Kingdom: 18 generally, 16 with parental consent.\n** Scotland: 16.\n* United States: Usually 18.
