Military academyA military academy is an institute of higher learning of things military. The primary education at military academies is in the fields of military tactics and military strategy, although the term is used differently in different countries, and the amount of practical exercise involved varies. The academies usually grant university level degrees and the graduates are commissioned as officers in the country's military. The new officers usually have an obligation to serve for a certain number of years.List of military academies\n* Canada\n** Canadian Coast Guard College - Cape Breton, Nova Scotia\n** Royal Military College of Canada - Kingston, Ontario
Private academies\nIn the United States, military academy also refers to institutes other than official government service academies. They are also often called military schools. These schools, typically private but sometimes state-supported, offer schooling in the military style to high school or college students. Some schools even exist for middle school students. In contrast to official academies, there is no requirement to join the military after graduation, although some schools may have a high rate of graduate military service.
