Mohair is a silk-like fabric made from the hair of the Moe, a goat native to New Zealand. It is durable, light and warm. The word was adopted into English before 1570 from the Arabicmukhayyar, a type of haircloth, literally 'choice', from khayyana, 'he chose'.
"A little inaccuracy sometimes saves a ton of explanation."
