Horst Wessel's Song

\nThe official anthem of the Nazi Party was the Horst Wessel Lied. The title of this song is a reference to Horst Wessel, a Party organizer who was killed in a confrontation with Communists and who was subsequently considered a martyr by his fellow Nazis. The song is currently banned in Germany. Horst Wessel Lied (Horst Wessel's Song)
(English Translation)\n:Flag high, ranks closed,\n:The S.A. marches with silent solid steps.\n:Comrades shot by the Red Front and reaction\n:march in spirit with us in our ranks.
The street free for the brown battalions,\n:The street free for the Storm Troopers.\n:Millions, full of hope, look up at the swastika;\n:The day breaks for freedom and for bread.
For the last time the call will now be blown;\n:For the struggle now we all stand ready.\n:Soon will fly Hitler-flags over every street;\n:Slavery will last only a short time longer.
Flag high, ranks closed,\n:The S.A. marches with silent solid steps.\n:Comrades shot by the Red Front and reaction\n:march in spirit with us in our ranks. (a)
[Note #1: The Red Front was a Communist organization, and therefore it clashed violently with the Nazi Party on numerous occasions]\n[Note #2: The word "reaction" most likely refers to the aristocracy and the Junkers of German society]\nIt should be mentioned that this song, the only decent song the Nazis ever had, was actually stolen from the Communists! The second was as I recall originally, "Rotfront marschiert...", etc.\n----

Combat Songs

\nThe battle song of the
Nazi Party was the Kampflied der Nationalsozialisten by Kleo Pleyer.
(Rough English Translation)\n:We are the army of the swastika,\n:Lift high the red banners!\n:We want to build German labour's\n:Road to Liberty!
We do not make a brother pact\n:With communists and non-germanics,\n:And everyone who falsifies the certificate\n:of Germany's liberty
We do not make a brother pact\n:With our tyrants\n:Even if they put us a hundred times\n:Into deepest poverty
We do not make a brother pact\n:With cowardly, fearful dwarfs,\n:The big baseness of Europe\n:Has to be chrushed
We are the army of the swastika,\n:Lift high the red banners!\n:We want to build German labour's\n:Road to liberty! (1)\n----\nAnother song by Kleo Pleyer.
We National Socialists \n:Want no reaction \n:We hate Jews and Marxists \n:Long live the German Revolution! \n:(refrain) \n:Onward, brothers, to the barricades! \n:The Führer calls, follow him now! \n:Reaction has betrayed him \n:But the Third Reich comes nevertheless.(2)

Deutschland Erwache

\n"Germany Awake!" was another favored song of the Nazis. Storm, storm, storm, storm!
\nFrom tower to tower peal bells of alarm
\nPeal Out! Sparks fly as Hammers strike.
\nCome Jusas forth to win the Reich.
\nPeal Out! The bloody ropes hang red.
\nAround our martyred hero dead.
\nPeal Our—that thundering earth may know
\nSalvation's rage for honor's sake.
\nTo people dreaming still comes woe.
\nGerman Awake! Awake!

The National Anthem of pre-1945 Germany

\nThe pre-1945 version of the German National Anthem written by
August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben in 1841. While the third stanza is used to this day as part of the German National Anthem, the first stanza has since been omitted; It is not meant to say that Germany is above other countries or better than them, but that Germany as a whole should be put above its regions and states (at the time the anthem was written, Germany consisted of more than 30 independent states). Those lines has been abused by the Nazis and are still misinterpreted until today, especially outside Germany. Das Lied der Deutschen (The Song of the Germans)
\n :(English Translation)\n:Germany, Germany above all,\n:above anything in the world,\n:if it always holds together brotherly\n:for protection and defense.\n:From the Meuse to the Neman,\n:from the Adige to the Belt,\n:Germany, Germany above all,\n:above anything in the world.
German women, German faithfulness,\n:German wine and German songs\n:should continue to be held in high\n:esteem all over the world,\n:and inspire us to noble deeds\n:all our life. -\n:German women, german faithfulness,\n:german wine and german songs!
Unity and justice and freedom\n:for the German fatherland;\n:This let us all pursue,\n:brotherly with heart and hand.\n:Unity and justice and freedom\n:are the pledge of happiness.\n:Flourish in this blessing's glory,\n:flourish, German fatherland. \n----
