OsteoclastAn osteoclast is a cell that reabsorbs old bone so that osteoblast cells can replace it with new bone. If there is an imbalance between bone resorption and bone formation then osteoporosis occurs. Osteoclasts are differentiated from hemopoietic cells of the monocyte/macrophage lineage. |
