PlatemailPlatemail is metal armor worn on the chest and sometimes the entire body. Platemail armor was only worn by nobles, dukes, monarchs, and higher/wealthier knights. The plate was actually an effective way for defensive block due to weapons such as swords. Daggers were a problem however, for there were numerous thin spaces were they could pierce through. It could have consisted of a face mask (helmet), a flexible metallic "skirt", arm and/or leg covering, as well as gauntlets, and metal boots.See also: Chainmail |
