Polar graph

A polar graph is a graph drawn with (circular) polar coordinates. Polar graphs are used in designing radio antennas.

Most maths teach graphing on the cartesian plane, which uses x as the horizontal coordinates and y as the vertical coordinates. However, the polar graph uses trigonometric functions. The three values of x, y, and r inherent when a unit circle is drawn forms the basis of polar coordinates, which generally follow the format:

where θ is the central angle. The polar graph, which is circular, is similar to the unit circle used in trigonometry.
