Remington Rand 409The Remington Rand 409 plugboard programmed punch card calculator, first introduced in 1949, was sold in two models: the UNIVAC 60 and the UNIVAC 120. The model number referred to the number of memory storage locations provided for data. The machine was designed in "The Barn," at 33 Highland Ave. in Rowayton, Connecticut, a building that currently houses the Rowayton Public Library and Community Center. These machines were discontinued when the UNIVAC 1004 was introduced.
Little more can be said on these machines as Univac destroyed all the records on both the design and production of these machines.
