The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed "the Tigers", are an Australian rules football club playing in the Australian Football League. Their home base is the Punt Road Oval, a stone's throw away from the Melbourne Cricket Ground where they play most of their matches. They were established in 1885, and joined the Victorian Football Association in 1886, then joined the Victorian Football League (VFL) which became the Australian Football League in 1990. Richmond wear a black jumper with a yellow sash. Since 1995 the back of the jumper has had a yellow number (previously it was a black jumper with yellow sash and white number).
