Sabino Arana

Sabino Arana (January 26, 1865 - November 25, 1903), founder of the Basque Nationalist Party. Author of several books and numerous articles arguing in favour of Basque nationalism based on the idea of the Basques as a special, superior, race.

"What does racial purity imply for the Nationalist Agenda? 1. Foreigners can live in the Basque territory only under the supervision of their superiors. Foreigners cannot be naturalized. As to the Spaniards, the General Consul should determine whether they are to be expelled. No immigration will be tolerated in thefirst few years following independence, in order to wipe away the stain of foreign influence. 2.Basque citizenship will only be allowed for theose families originally from the Basque region, those who belong to the Basque race, and only with restrictions to those of mixed blood (Basque & foreign). "

"Basques are intelligent and adaptable to all sorts of work, Spaniards are somewhat stupid and unable to complete even the simiplist tasks. Ask anyone familiar with construction and he will tell you that one Basque can do more in one day than three Spics [Maketos - derogatory term for non-Basque Spaniards]"
