Sremska MitrovicaSremska Mitrovica (Сремска Митровица) is a city located in Serbia and Montenegro at 44.98° North, 19.61° East. Its name means "Mitrovica of Srem" (Mitrovica of Kosovo also exists) while Mitrovica stems from name "Demetrii" or "Dimitrije" in Serbian language. Its name under the Roman Empire was Sirmium. From 1180.AD the name changed from "Civitas Sancti Demetrii", "Dmitrovica" and "Mitrovica" to it's todays form "Sremska Mitrovica". In 2003 the city has total population of 39,200.
