SteelheadSteelhead, or steelhead trout, is the common name given to a Pacific species (Oncorhynchus mykiss) of anadromous fish belonging to the salmon family. Steelhead range in weight from 2.5 kg to 10 kg. They are recognized by having a relatively thick tail base, and tiny spots over their entire tail and head. The caudal fin is at more or less right angle to the body. The steelhead is the same species as the landlocked rainbow trout. |
