The Dark Tower (series)

The Dark Tower is a fantasy fiction/science fantasy/western themed series of novels by the American horror writer Stephen King. As of 2004, the series is incomplete. The series was inspired by the poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" by Robert Browning (1812 - 1889). Books in this series:\n# The Gunslinger (1982, originally published as separate short stories)\n# The Drawing of the Three (1987)\n# The Waste Lands (1991)\n# Wizard and Glass (1997)\n# Wolves of the Calla (title originally announced as The Crawling Shadow) (2003)\n# Song of Susannah (2004)\n# The Dark Tower (planned for release September 21, 2004) The short story Little Sisters of Eluria (which is featured in King's short story collection Everything's Eventual: 14 Dark Tales) is also part of the series. The series has become a linchpin that ties much of King's work together. The worlds of The Dark Tower are in part composed of locations, characters, events and other random elements from many of King's novels, including principally:\n'Salem's Lot, The Stand, Insomnia, Rose Madder,\nDesperation, Bag of Bones, From a Buick 8, Skeleton Crew, Hearts in Atlantis, It, The Eyes of the Dragon, The Talisman and Black House (with Peter Straub), and The Regulators (under the nom de plume Richard Bachman.)\n
