TonatiuhIn Aztec mythology, Tonatiuh was a sun god and war god who presided over the current (fifth) age. Warriors who die serving him receive eternal life in his House of the Sun (Tonatiuhichan). He was especially fond of human sacrifice. Because the sun reflected on his shield, the nickname of Pedro de Alvarado was Tonatiuh. \nCategory:Aztec gods\nCategory:Solar gods\nCategory:War gods\n |
