Transitway
The
Transitway is a system of roads in the City of
Ottawa,
Ontario,
Canada that is for buses only, (or has bus only lanes) and is run by
OC Transpo. It consists of two main lines: a South-West to East line and a West to South-East line. It also consists of the
O-Train line, which is a train line owned by OC transpo which runs north-south.
Many of the Transitway roads are above or below the grade of normal streets in Ottawa, by the use of overpasses, bridges, and trench highways. Thus, they rarely intersect directly the regular traffic and make it possible for the buses (and emergency vehicles such as fire engines) to continue at full speed even during rush hour.
Route 95 (South-West to East)
\n*Fallowfield Transitway Station- Located at Woodroffe Avenue and Fallowfield Road in Barrhaven.\n*Baseline Transitway Station- Located on Woodroffe Avenue across from Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology.\n*Iris Transitway Station- Located on Iris Street in Kenson Park.\n*Queenway Transitway Station- Located at the Queensway and Woodroffe in the Whitehaven neighbourhood.\n*Lincoln Fields Transitway Station- Located at Carling Avenue and the Ottawa River Parkway.\n*Dominion Transitway Station- Located off of Domion Avenue on the Ottawa River Parkway\n*Westboro Transitway Station- Located on Scott Street in Westboro\n*Tunney's Pasture Transitway Station- Located at Scott Street and Holland Avenue at the Tunney's Pasture government office complex.\n*Bayview Transitway and O-Train Station- Located at the eastern end of Scott Street when it becomes Wellington Street. Serves as the northern terminus of the O-Train. \n*Lebreton Transitway Station- Located on Booth Street in Lebreton Flats.\n*Bay Transitway Station- Located on Albert and Slater Streets at Bay Street.\n*Kent Transitway Station- Located on Albert and Slater Streets at Kent Street.\n*Bank Transitway Station- Located on Albert and Slater Streets at Bank Street.\n*Metcalfe Transitway Station- Located on Albert and Slater Streets at Metcalfe Street.\n*Mackenzie King Transitway Station- Located on the Mackenzie King Bridge at the Rideau Centre and the Department of National Defense headquarters.\n*Laurier Transitway Station- Located at Laurier Avenue and Waller Street at the University of Ottawa.\n*Campus Transitway Station- Located at the University of Ottawa.\n*Lees Transitway Station- Located on Lees Avenue at Algonquin College's Rideau Campus.\n*Hurdman Transitway Station- Located near Riverside Drive and Industrial Avenue. The the East Transitway and South-East Transitway split here.\n*Train Transitway Station- Located at the Ottawa Train Station on Tremblay Road.\n*St. Laurent Tranistway Station- Located at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre on St. Laurent Boulevard.\n*Cyrville Transitway Station- Located at Cyrville Road and the Queensway.\n*Blair Transitway Station- Located at the Gloucester Centre onBlair Road.\n*Orleans Transitway Station- Located at the Place d'Orleans shopping complex and is the main terminus of Route 95.\n*Trim Rd. Station- Located at Trim Rd. This is a park and ride station.
Route 97 (West to South-East
\n*Stittsville Transitway Station- Park and Ride facility located in Stittsville.\n*Kanata Town Centre Transitway Station- The Main Terminus of route 97. Located on Katimivik Road at the Kanata Town Centre.\n*Eagleson Transitway Station- Park and Ride located at Eagleson Rd. and Highway 417.\n*Bayshore Transitway Station- Located at the Bayshore Shopping Centre.\n* Central Transitway- Route 97 follows the same route as route 95 from Lincoln Fields Transitway Station to Hurdman Transitway Station.\n*Lycée Claudel Transitway Station (formerly Abbey)- Located on old Riverside Drive across from the Lycée Claudel school.\n*Smyth Transitway Station- Located at Riverside Drive and Smyth Road.\n*Riverside Transitway Station- Located at the Riverside Hospital on Riverside Drive.\n*Pleasant Park Transitway Station- Located at Pleasant Park Road and Riverside Drive.\n*Billings Bridge Transitway Station- Located at the Billings Bridge Shopping Centre on Bank Street.\n*Heron Transitway Station- Located at Heron Park on Heron Road.\n*Walkley Transitway Station- Located at Walkley Road and the Airport Parkway.\n*Greenboro Transitway and O-Train Station- Located at Bank Street and Johnston Road at the north end of the South Keys shopping complex. Southern terminus of the O-Train.\n*South Keys Transitway Station- Located at Bank Street and the Airport Parkway at the south end of the South Keys shopping complex. Main terminus of route 97.\n*Airport Transitway Station- Located at Macdonald-Cartier International Airport.
