Tuonela is the realm of the dead in
Finnish mythology. Words associated with death in the Finnish mythology include:
- Tuonela: A peaceful place, where children and "pure" innocent people went after death.\n*Manala: The place of common people after death, possibly the same as Tuonela: "Mennä manan majoille"; to go to the houses of Mana (death).\n*Surma: Accidental death or death in war: "Joutua surman suuhun"; to fall into death's mouth.\n*Kalma: Death caused by sickness or malady: "Häneen tarttui kalman koura"; Kalma's hand gripped him.
