VisegrádHungarian town in Pest county, north of Budapest on the right bank of the Danube. First mentioned in 1009 as county town (of Visegrad county) and chief town of archdeaconry. It became the capitol of Hungary at the time of Charles I of Hungary. Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor also king of Hungary moved the capitol to Buda, then Matthias Corvinus of Hungary made Visegrád a co-capitol again.
