Yet Another Setup ToolYet Another Setup Tool (YaST) is an operating system setup and configuration tool that is featured in the SuSE Linux distribution. It is also part of United Linux. Although its license permits modification, creating the appearance of a free software license, redistribution is only allowed free-of-charge, only on FTP servers and “mailboxes” (BBS systems), and only together with SuSE Linux. Thus, YaST is generally not considered free software, and is not found in any other Linux distribution. However, Novell is planning to make YaST available under the GPL [1]. Yast2 is a fairly complete and competent tool for administering a SuSE installation.External links |
