Yu Shyi-kun

Yu Shyi-kun (游錫堃 pinyin: Yóu Xíkūn) (born April 25, 1948) is Premier of the Republic of China since February 1, 2002. Born in Taihe Village (太和村), Dongshan Township (冬山鄉), Yilan County, Taiwan, Yu studied international commerce at the Chih Lee College of Business (致理商專, now Chihlee Institute of Technology), Taipei in 1975. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in politics in Tunghai University in 1985. His political career includes:\n* 1981: Member of the Taiwan Provincial Assembly \n* 1983 - 84: Tangwai Secretary-General\n* 1984 - 86: Member, Central Committee (中央常務委員) of the Democratic Progressive Party\n* 1986 - 90: Member, Central Standing Committee, Democratic Progressive Party\n* 1989 - 97: Magistrate, Ilan County\n* 1994 - 96: Member, Educational Reform Committee\n* 1989 - 97 Chief magistrate of Yilan County for two consecutive terms\n* 1998 - 99: Chairman of Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation \n* 1999-2000: Secretary-General, Democratic Progressive Party\n* 2000: Vice Premier\n* 2001 - 02: Secretary-General, Office of the President Yu is the founder of Kavalan Journal (《噶瑪蘭雜誌》), which is named after the Kavalan Taiwanese aborigines.
